This is a GREAT place to eat!!! All of our food choices were ample servings and plentiful. The server was with us just after we were seated. Sooo many choices on their menu. We all had and enjoyed their seafood chowder, wings, and chili. The onion rings were wonderful. We also found a new whiskey here, Peanut Butter Whiskey!!! It's is really smooth and a great mild flavor. If you are ever near this part of Maine, you need to try this place!!!

We stopped here for lunch as we were passing through. My wife had wings and I tried the clam chowder. We shared an order of Chili Fries. The portions were generous. The Chowder was excellent. It had a nice balance of meat and vegtable. The flavors blended well. Good for a chilly day like it was. The appetizer was awesome, but way to much for two. It had an authentic house made chili, melted cheese, and browed ground beef over golden fries. The wings were awesome. Crispy outside, moist and flavorful inside. The breading was dark. I'm not sure exactly what was in it, but the flavor was perfect with the sauce and stayed crispy. The Service was excellent as well. The Restaurant itself has a great story and the Country Decor is both Creative and well accomplished. Check them out on maps and go to their website. There is a video showing how the barn was converted. 👌 If were back in the area, we will definitely return to try more of the menu.

Newer restaurant/bar. Cozy fun atmosphere with music but not deafening loud, can still have a conversation without shouting. Great all around bar type food, fair pricing and tasty. Didn’t have any of the drinks but the bartender made a grumpy goose in front of me and it looked amazing.

Stopped here for lunch with our two young children. We each ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their meal. The portions are huge and the pricing was great. Our waitress was super friendly and offered us a lot of suggestions for our vacation. The decor is cute and we appreciated all of the non-seafood options offered. Definitely recommend!

I had a decent meal here. The taco platter was plenty for someone with an appetite. I had mine with the blackened fish - it came in big pieces and was flaky and fresh tasting. The black beans were nice but my rice was unfortunately undercooked and hard - the waitress readily offered to replace it with another side and I got the mashed potatoes which were excellent. I ordered the apple pie warm with ice cream and it came out kind of sad and wilted looking. It was ok, but I wouldn't recommend it for the $8 it currently costs. Every came out really fast despite nearly every table being full.

This place is honestly the best place in striking distance of Portland for pub food and a cold drink. My burger was excellent nice and juicy cooked perfectly just how I asked. My fiance had a country fried steak which was also super good very well seasoned and tender. The sides were also very good the mashed potatoes were very good nice and creamy with just a little chunk left in them. And the bacon cheese fries were some of them the best I've ever had they didn't have that crappy plastic cheese and frozen bacon bits, they had and actual cheese sauce with real bacon chunks with nice crispy fries. Our server was initially a little different but added to the charm of the place, he was very caring and definitely actually cared about his customers. He even went so far as to ask me how my coke tasted because the machine was running out and was willing to go immediately change out the syrup just to grab me a new drink, but the coke was just fine to me. There's no shortage of things to look at inside the restaurant it's comfy and cozy with that old school country vibe. Pricing was worth the quality and portion size. Definitely will tell my friends at work about this one and I'll be craving it until the next time we're there

EAT HERE!! OMG EAT HERE!!!
I took my daughters today. The atmosphere is so relaxed. This is the first time in a long time I have left a restaurant feeling so completley satisfied from the food I ate. The Taco salad shell alone is to die for. I haven't eaten a shell like that since I was a teenager and visited Portland. My daughter loves ground beef tacos. Nobody sells ground beef tacos but Barnhouse. This is the first time in Maine that she has devoured a taco & a half out in public. She RAVED about the tacos. I wish I was better with words at describing food. All I can say is my stomach was satisfied & my heart was happy. I even asked to speak with the owner to compliment them on their menu. I wish the Barnhouse was closer to home. Maybe it's better that it's not because I'd be broke all the time. Hopefully these photos speak better than my words.
Our waitress was fantastic!!! The food was delicious!! The French fries and onion rings portions were large & tasted amazing. I couldn't get enough of them. Especially the French fries. I thought the portion of the ribs would be a little larger. They were melt off the bone good but a little to much BBQ sauce for my own taste. I would have loved more cole slaw. It was served in a very small metal condiment bowl. My mom enjoyed the steak & cheese. Her only complaint was that some of the steak was burnt. I would definitely visit this restaurant again. Even for the French fries alone.

It's a small place, not very welcoming. Took 10 mins and us asking if we can get a drink for our server to come take the order, said they were busy and lots of ppl just came in but not all the tables were full.
Food was OK. I had a burrito that was decent, chicken was a bit overcooked and dried out but still decent overall. The pineapple was delicious on it. The whole belly clams were not cooked and had white stuff coming out so you know they are raw, they took them back no issue and said they were disgusting so not sure why they would even serve that. Burger was decent too. Fried mushrooms were over cooked. Onion rings were too and cold so figure that one out if they are busy 😆 🤣
Service was not friendly and seems like more of a locals place and that's the ones that get better Service.
I wouldn't go back

How have I not left a review for this place yet?
This is BY FAR one of my favorite restaurants across ME/NH. The portions are great, the food is ALWAYS hot and perfectly cooked. I drive all over the state, and my favorite destination is down east simply because I get to stop by Barnhouse for lunch.
The service? Always excellent. My drink is never empty and I am always in/out promptly. I never feel like I have to search out my waitress.
Edit: my most recent visit impressed. I sat down at 12:22pm. I was served a delicious meal by 12:35pm. I paid at 12:49. THAT'S service. Thank you Mandy!

Parking is large, great for a Friday or Saturday crowd.
Atmosphere is chill, great staff and delicious food!
My husband and I have come here twice now and have not been disappointed.
We started off with the fried mushrooms which were on spot! The breading did not fall off nor was it too thick. The mushroom was not at all mushy, a nice delicious texture.
We split the haddock wrap which was huge! You are definitely getting a bang for your buck here. The fish was cooked well and the wrap had just enough sauce that it did not make anything soggy.
We will be back for sure!

Nothing but quality! This place had some of the best pulled pork I've ever tasted. Lightning fast service (it was less than 10 minutes from the time we came in to the time we got our food). Tasted hot and fresh, not frozen either. Highly recommend!!

I was shocked to have one of the best pulled pork sandwiches of my life here! A perfect, delicious blend of fatty + lean + charred + caramelized meat — the best of what I like about burnt ends without being too overpowering.
The food came out super fast and the waitresses were super kind, as well! If my family ever passes through Wiscasset again, we'll be back.

A downhome Maine pub with amazing food, great staff, and a cozy atmosphere. Prices are fairer than most of the Boothbay area. The burritos are *Massive* - described by my girlfriend as "an adventure" - and it is so worth the undertaking. Will definitely remember this place whenever we're back up in the Midcoast!
